About Zalongo

In 2004, Hal Gatewood's wife's family (the Mazzalongo Family) was located throughout the United States and Canada and wanted a way to share wish lists for their annual Christmas gathering. Hal started a family social network called Mazzalongo.com.

In 2009, while Hal was working at Twist Image a marketing agency in Montreal, Canada, a coworker saw him browsing the site and suggested he open it up to other families. And so in 2010, he did. After cutting off the 'maz' from the family name, he was left with the current name of Zalongo.

In 2013, Zalongo was accepted into the REVTech Accelerator program (then called VentureSpur) for startups as the first 'jump start' participant. During the program Hal was mentored by Cory Miller of iThemes, Jon Bolen of EnTouch Controls, Mike Whitaker of Idea Gateway and Albert Hoover of Leadout Advisors. This is actually a very short list compared to the many who were excited about Zalongo and it's potential.

As of late 2014, Zalongo is still a single member company run by just Hal Gatewood.
